Is this legal?

The idea is to assist you in finding out what DVDs and games your friends have. In itself this service certainly isn't illegal. And to the best of our knowledge you can lend DVDs and games to your friends quite legally too if you don't charge them for the privelege.

However - you must not charge to let someone borrow your titles. This is counted as running an actual rental service - and to run one you must purchase special rental versions.

I'd also like to remind you that I'm not here to help you swap copied DVDs. Films do cost quite a bit of money to make. Please buy originals.

How do I add titles to my collection

Once you're logged in, go to My Titles and click Add Titles. The Add Titles screen will appear. To use the webcam scanner click the Accept button in the scanner area - this allows our scanner software to access your webcam. Make sure you are in a well lit environment (a small desk lamp at 90' to the webcam is great for this purpose). Then place the barcode in front of the webcam and line it up in the middle. The barcode should fill the preview area and the left should show the white background of the barcode.

At this point the scanner should have a pretty good view of your barcode and look up the title. If the title is already known by Swapperish it'll be added to your collection - you can see titles added in the area under the scanner. Otherwise you'll see Manual Add - you'll have to enter the details by clicking the Manual Add button.

I don't have an invite - when are you coming out of beta?

Sorry - I have a lot left to do before launch. I'm concentrating on getting everything working before adding more testers and launching fully. I'll be getting the blog up and running soon - so keep an eye out for it!
